Correct cultivation enhances the root penetration potential and drainage on most sites. Cultivation includes ripping and mounding and is used by GPFL to manipulate water retention or distribution wherever possible, in turn reducing erosion potential.
Ripping
is carried out where severe compaction has occurred and/or where a severe plough
pan or impeding layer exists, and mounds
would be constructed with a cultivator and roller.
